Applying False Eyelashes

A pair of false eyelashes really makes a difference to your look. If you've never applied them, here's a few tips to get you started. Firstly, like all make-up application you'll need to start with clean dry skin and if you are applying make-up it's advisable to leave a gap of clean skin. You can apply eyeliner first but not where you want to stick the lashes.

Remove the eyelashes from the packet and gently flex them to make them softer and easier to handle. Size them by offering them up to the eye and measure them for trimming. They should follow your natural lashes. Do not let overlap your tear-duct as this will cause watery eyes! Trime the lashes to size.

When the lashes are to the desired size, open the supplied glue and using a cocktail stick or the end of a pin, pick up some glue and run a a tiny amount around the band of the lashes. NEVER use anything other than purpose designed and formulated eyelash adhesive. NEVER apply glue directly to the eye and NEVER add additional glue using any sharp object once the lases are applied. The glue will tack a few moments to go tacky, any colouring of the glue is not a problem as it will dry clear.

Fix the eyelashes into position by gently lowering them onto your own lashes then push them onto the skin near the base of your lashes and gently dab them into place. With practise it becomes easier, but you can either shut one eye and resting your elbow on the dressing table to steady it, lower them into place or a great tip is to have a mirror below your head so that you can look down into the mirror and see the eyelid more clearly.

Removal. At some point you'll want to take your false eyelashes off and this is done by holding the skin next to the eye and with the other hand hold the lash, gently pull the lash away, remember you should have used a very small amount of glue so there should be very little to remove. Use eye make up remover to clean away any traces of glue. Put the lashes back in the box carefully for future wear.
