Halloween Party Ideas for Little Ones

Clown Logo of Karnival Costumes your Halloween specialists for Fancy Dress and Costume AccessoriesIf you’ve decided to host your own Halloween party for little ones under about 5 years of age and you are stuck for ideas, here are a few simple low-cost ones that should prove popular this Halloween:
  • With any group of young children you’ll need help, so why not ask each to bring an idea for an activity and a snack to share. This will help to spread the cost and preparation and will encourage the parents to stay and help!
  • Colouring in is always good fun and Halloween pages can be easily found and printed off from Google images and other sites. Once decorated, the shapes can be cut out and used to create unique hats by gluing the picture to a strip of card that can then be formed into a cone shaped hat.  These hats can be pre-made and elastic added to save time.
  • Another great alternative is to have some bat shapes pre-cut out and then get your guests to colour these in with crayons and glitter pens.  These can then be hung up and left to dance in the breeze.
  • Ask your guests to dress up in Halloween costumes as this is customary at Halloween.  And grown ups should definitely dress up too as this all adds to the fun of the party.
  • If money is short, you could ask to borrow a costume from friends, or you could try and make one from existing clothing. Use face paints to complete the look – check out our blog on achieving the best effects.
  • Investing in a Halloween masks and a pair of skeleton bone gloves may be a good bet as these will last a number of years if stored correctly and they can be shared and swapped around.
  • Singing games could include ‘Incey Wincey Spider’ where all the children get a big tickle when the spider runs up and down the spout.
  • And for a whacky party game, rather than egg and spoon races, why not use plastic spiders or bats and if you have enough guests create small relay teams to make the fun last longer.
  • For something quieter (perhaps) what about reading them a spooky Bones story this is a useful way of bringing the excitement down a bit before they eat.
  • There are plenty of Halloween recipes available from which you should be able to find plenty of inspiration. But you won’t be able to beat jelly with sweets in it!
  • And for a final treat, why not arrange with a couple of neighbours that you’ll bring your group Trick or Treating and then everyone will go home with plenty to remember.

Have a spooktacular time!
