Winnie the Pooh Day Celebrate in January

Every year lovers of AA Milne’s most famous, and certainly the most cuddlesome, creation Winnie the Pooh Day celebrate 18th January the birthday of Milne who was born in 1882. Officially know now as Winnie the Pooh Day, it’s become a day of celebration marked by Teddy Bears’ Picnics which inevitably feature plenty of honey in the menu as Pooh was always looking for “hunny” to feed his rumbly tumbly.

Although Milne created many children’s book characters his most famous creations are those who live in Hundred Acre Wood where Winnie the Pooh remains his most famous creation springing to life from the page along with Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger and don't forgetting Christopher Robin!

In orange with black stripes, this effervescent tiger even hs his own song: “The wonderful thing about Tiggers is Tiggers are wonderful things. Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs. They’re bouncy, trouncy,

flouncy, pouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN! But the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is … I’m the only”. And when I see a toy one, I’m still tempted t see if he bounces like the song says he does!

So this January 18th make sure you celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day with Pooh and his Friends. Perhaps you could read some of his storybook adventures or create your Winnie the Pooh picture? Or why not dress the kids up in Winnie the Pooh costumes and create your own version of Hundred Acre Wood where you and they can share your own teddy bear's picnic?

If you fancy something more exciting and you live close by, why not plan a visit to the House at Pooh Corner in Hartfield, East Sussex where Milne wrote the books primarily for the amusement of his son and based upon his own toys.  Pick up a map and you’ll find yourself following in the footsteps of the characters as you search for your own enchanted place and whilst you’re there why not indulge in a game of “Poohsticks” from the original bridge just like the characters in the book.

Or perhaps, best of all of is a tea of hunny sandwiches and cuddle up in the warm with your favourite Pooh Bear toy in-front of a Disney Winnie the Pooh film on the TV! For the older ones, it’s a great time to dust off those Winnie the Pooh books and rediscover the sheer joy of the stories.

Whatever you do, celebrating on January 18th is the perfect way to get in the classic Winnie mood!  And for those looking for the ideal costume for their own little one, at Karnival Costumes we’ve a complete range of Disney Baby costumes which includes many of the enchanting characters from these storybooks.
