Chinese New Year Celebrations

The Chinese calendar is based on a combination of lunar and solar movements with an extra month being inserted into the calendar every few years. This explains why Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year. Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival, which is celebrated at night with lantern displays parades. For this year, your Chinese New Year Party should be February 12th. So join with us and celebrate the Year of the Ox with our exciting range of decorations, Chinese themed costumes, Chinese New Year tableware and much more.

When is Chinese New Year 2022?

Chinese New Year this year will land on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Chinese New Year and Lunar New Year are often used synonymously and in the right context usually refer to the same holiday. Unlike other countries Chinese New Year celebrations are not restricted to one day, rather they last a total of 16 days with only the first seven counting as public holidays and in 2022 these are honored from January 31 through February 6, 2022.  2022 is officially the year of the Tiger.
