World Book Week Costumes
World Book Day is a global celebration of all things books. Supported by libraries, schools and UNESCO recognised, it’s a worldwide celebration of books, their authors and illustrators and reading in general. An annual event on the majority of school calendars in the UK, the official World Book Day is celebrated on the first Thursday in March although most events are scheduled over a week which has given rise to our own Book Week celebrations. When we look through our catalogue of children’s fancy dress, it’s not surprising to find that so many of them are related in no small way to the characters in books. Whether you think about any of the glorious books written by Roald Dahl or the spellbinding style of the Harry Potter series wherever you look there characters for which costumes have been created and World Book Day provides us with an opportunity for people, of all ages, to appear in fancy dress bringing their favourite characters to life.
